Seven gunmen fight a mad man and his army to protect a town.
This was an ok film with great acting, amazing action
scenes, and good actors but it brings nothing new to the table. I understand
it’s a remake of two movies and they both are great but this borrows a lot of
western clichés that are famous today. Besides that, Denzel Washington and
Chris Pratt killed it as the main characters while rest of the cast fell flat.
Washington and Pratt has more character development then the rest so you don’t
even know if you want them to stay alive cause there’s not much to know about
them. Vincent D’Onofrio’s character was the one person I really wanted to know
more about. Peter Saragard was a pretty good villain that was just slimy and
brutal. The one thing that was
surprising was how violent this film was for a PG 13 movie and that’s not a
complaint cause there were moments I cringed from seeing how badly people were
getting hurt or killed. Overall it’s a fun time at the movies and good to rent.
Don’t expect to beat out both of the originals including Seven Samurai. I
didn’t hate the movie at all but I wasn’t amazed by it either. It’s just a fun
entertaining western film. Verdict: 7.1
